What We Do SCFTS is an industry leader in servicing, engineering and repairing of vapor relief and control systems and mechanical level gauging equipment. This equipment is found in oil refineries, fuel terminals, oil & gas production facilities, waste water treatment plants, food processing and other industries that require storage of large quantities of liquids.
Vapor relief systems make the tank system work properly because they automatically equalize tank and pipe pressures by venting gases or by taking in air. Defective or poorly maintained pressure valves set on top of the large petroleum tanks found in refineries, fuel terminals, and oil fields are a leading source of fugitive emissions. We also repair and maintain mechanical gauges used on the same types of tanks. Such gauges show the tank’s product level. Our customers are primarily large energy concerns such as oil and gas companies located in California and the American West, but we have been called to work off-shore and in other parts of the country.

Our Employees SC Field Technical Services recruits skilled professionals who can excel in safety, technology, and customer service in the Oil & Gas industry. Our field service technicians need excellent mechanical ability to do their jobs. They also need good physical fitness and mental toughness to thrive in the challenging environments in which they work. Over the years, the SCFTS workforce has increased to about twenty service technicians who are supported by various supervisors, managers, and administrative support staff. All SCFTS employees are subject to a rigorous hiring process, but field service technicians are subject to further background and reference checks because of the inherent security risks associated with large energy facilities. Benefits including paid time off, health insurance, and a 401k retirement plan are offered to attract and retain good employees. Job descriptions are well defined, and specific job performance measures are regularly applied on an individual basis. Since performance measures are linked to pay scales, “pay for performance” is a reality for all employees. Using the performance measures, the more valuable employees become, the more pay they earn.
